These pigs spend their days moving and rooting around in the sun rather than kept in a feedlot or barn-stall all summer. This would be our preferred way to raise pork even if it didn't offer any other benefits, but their ability to move their muscles and eat a varied diet truly enhances the flavour of their meat. They also provide an invaluable service to the farm as a whole, reclaiming overgrown pasture or turning alder thickets into a silvopasture suitable for icelandic sheep to graze on.
